The Foundations of the Rotary Clubs of Singapore hosted a charity dinner last Tuesday 30th September at the Marina Mandarin Hotel. It was attended by all the Rotary Clubs in Singapore. One of the members of the Rotary Club of Singapore North had kindly donated a table, and we had a really enjoyable time. The evening started with an eloquent summary of the international achievements of the Rotary Club delivered by District Governor Haji Andre Suharto, from the Rotary Club of Kuching Central. Past District Governor Dr Wu Dar Ching went on to talk about current projects supported by the Rotary Clubs of Singapore, which included Meals From the Heart, Elder Care, Avoidable Blindness, Youth at Risk, and contributions to the Crohn’s and Colitis Society of Singapore.
Our club won a prize for correctly answering a musical quiz question: thanks Henry Chia. We won a second prize by building the tallest structure using plastic drinking straws. This was a remarkable feat as we had no architects or structural engineers in our team! It demonstrates that the Rotary Club of Singapore North has a wealth of hidden talent, capable of solving novel problems. It was a most fantastic evening!
