A delegate of 27 members, anns and guests from the Rotary Club of Singapore North visited the Sports Hub on the 31 October 2014. Led by Troy Engle, who is a director of coaching with the Sports Hub, the delegate was given a tour around the newly built stadium. The first impression was a the magnificent retractable roof, the largest of its kind in the world. Attention was soon diverted to the pitch where the staffs were all trying their best to get the pitch back to top condition. A blend of natural (imported from the temperate countries) and artificial grass, the pitch became the talking point after world class players played on it recently with bad reviews.
A tour was also conducted at the Sports Institute where the delegate was shown the facilities used by athletes, including the high-altitude simulation environment where athletes train at high altitude and live at sea-level environment.
A fellowship dinner was organized at a nearby seafood restaurant right after the tour. It was fitting way to end a well-attended vocational visit to cap the end of the Vocational Service Month of October.
Many thanks to Vocational Director Rtn Ong Wee Heng for chiefly organizing the tour with Troy Engle who was also assisted by Club Service Director Rtn Amit and SAA PP Kim Li Chee.
